Milwaukee School of Engineering Dorm

At the southeast corner of Water Street and Juneau Avenue, MSOE has purchased a 14-story building with the intent of converting it into 150 residential units for students and faculty. The site, just across the street from the Park East corridor, was originally planned to be a hotel and continues the momentum adjacent to the Park East, including the continued growth of universities in the downtown area. The total investment by MSOE for this project is over $25 million.

The Brewery

The 22-acre former Pabst Brewery, just west of the Park East corridor, is undergoing a complete redevelopment by Zilber Ltd. into a new neighborhood called The Brewery. In 2007, the City of Milwaukee created a $29 million Tax Incremental District to replace infrastructure, conduct environmental clean-up and make other improvements to the complex. Since then, several historic buildings have been renovated into offices, apartments units, a hotel and university functions, including the UW-Milwaukee School of Public Health. In addition, an 880-stall parking ramp has been constructed, with additional office and residential buildings currently under construction. The entire development is a pilot LEED-ND (Neighborhood) project, with green features and building standards throughout.

Associated Bank

Associated Bank has announced plans for a new branch and community park located at 1301 N. Martin Luther King Jr. Drive in Milwaukee, adjacent to the Park East corridor. The new location is anticipated to open in late summer 2014.

The 3,000 square-foot location will offer customers an enhanced banking experience in a revitalized and spacious layout, reflecting the updated Associated brand style. The branch will offer 24/7 self-service banking solutions along with a digital demonstration zone allowing customers to sign up for online banking and interact with Associated Bank’s mobile applications.

“We’re thrilled that this our development will serve both our customers and the vibrant downtown community,” said David Stein, executive vice president, head of retail banking, Associated Bank. “We’re honored to be a part of the rich history of Milwaukee and the bright future of Haymarket Square and the Park East corridor.”

Avenir Apartments

The Park East Square is a mixed-use development, which includes three phases in downtown Milwaukee. Phase 1 of Park East Square is comprised of 104 market-rate apartment units and 7,072 sq. ft. of ground level retail space. It is being developed as a five-story building along Jefferson and a four-story building along Lyon. Parking for the residents is located within the building at its two lowest levels. A two-level parking structure will accommodate the public and retail users and is planned to be on the southwest side of the building with access from Lyon for the lower level and access from Jefferson for the upper level. Phase 2 will be a 95-unit apartment building located on Milwaukee Street and attached to the Phase 1 building.
