Development in the McKinley Avenue District offers investors the opportunity to create a piece of Milwaukee history. As motorists exit I-43 to enter downtown, they will be greeted by one of two designated landmark buildings. If you have plans of developing your own iconic project in a visible, high-traffic location sure to create buzz, here’s your chance.
The McKinley Avenue District will provide a mix of activities designed to enhance the street experience and add to the vitality of the surrounding neighborhoods. Easy freeway access, high visibility and nearby dining and entertainment venues make the McKinley Avenue District conducive to corporate and multi-tenant office, mixed-use building and housing projects.
To best achieve these objectives, the area is divided into three subareas, each characterized as follows:
- Subarea A: The western edge of this district is a primary location for landmark buildings with unique features that serve as visual entry points to downtown.
- Subarea B: The central portion of this district allows for a variety of parcel sizes and is suited for mixed-use entertainment and office projects.
- Subarea C: This part of the district is considered the West Bank Riverfront and offers additional properties ideal for office use. It also serves as a gateway to neighborhoods north and south via historic Martin Luther King Jr. Drive and Old World Third Street, as well as the RiverWalk.
